In -School Soccer Clinics

Program Overview:

Puma FC brings the opportunity to provide FREE SOCCER CLINICS to Schools during school times or physical education classes as part of our giving back to community projects.

Let me tell you a little bit about us and what we do already within our local communities.

PUMA FC’s primary objective is teaching sportsmanship, discipline, leadership, teamwork and physical conditioning through the playing and promotion of soccer. Our Club provides facilities, training, administration, and support to communities in Leawood, Overland Park, Brookside, Lees Summit, Prairie Village, Olathe, Lenexa, Shawnee, Kansas City, Manhattan, Salina, and other surrounding areas.

The Puma FC  In-School program helps connect and build partnerships with local schools/ school districts, physical education teachers, and students to introduce soccer to all kids. The Soccer in Schools program aims to support the state learning standards for youth by teaching students about the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle through the enjoyment of playing soccer.

Soccer in School is an evidence-based group mentoring program designed to combat childhood obesity and foster character development among children in the local community. Trained coach-mentors engage children during the Class Period (PE), while creatively teaching nutrition education and critical life skills through soccer instruction. The program offered at no cost to the children and the schools who participate.

Our goal, at PUMA FC, is to provide the skills and opportunities for children to learn and embrace health and fitness for life.

In-Class Program: In a Physical Education classroom setting, the In-Class Program pairs soccer education with topics such as fitness, nutrition, and social awareness for a rounded educational experience. The In-Class program engages students in discussions on health around an easily relatable and fun topic: soccer

Session: Using a clinic format to focus on basic skills such as passing, dribbling, and shooting can be a good introduction to organized soccer and give kids an introduction of what joining a team would look like. We make sure to keep it light and fun!

Our 3 main objectives:

  • Kids attend the In- Class clinic during the PE class throughout the academic year. Participants learn about eating right and other ways to stay healthy, and they gain important decision-making and relationship skills from their interactions with coach-mentors and peers.

  • PUMA FC  coaches are also mentors. They teach kids the fundamentals of soccer but also strive to help children build confidence and recognize the value of hard work, teamwork, and persistence in achieving personal goals. By learning what it takes to play a team sport, kids are also being prepared to be productive citizens.

  • The lessons PUMA FC Academy don’t stop on the field. Coach-mentors meet with families regularly to educate parents and guardians about how to embrace an active and healthy lifestyle and nurture their child’s personal growth.
